Front Page!

I was recently interviewed by my local newspaper about my trip to Japan. I had no idea when it would be printed so I could only wait and check each day. On Wednesday, May 28th, my dad brought in the mail and the newspaper. I was looking through the mail, quickly glanced at the newspaper and noticed a picture of my mother! I said aloud, "Heyy, why is Mom in the paper?!" I then realized that my dad and I were also in the picture and that the article about my trip was printed on the very front page of the local newspaper! I was so excited, and I must have read it over about five times in a row. I scanned in the article and attached it below.

Click on the images to enlarge them.

I would also like to say "thank you very much" to everyone who has left me blog comments and congratulated me. I really appreciate it!

Shamrin!!!!! OMG!!! I just wanted to tell you that I am EXTREMELY happy for you to find out that you get to spend your summer living your dream in going to Japan. I'm super excited for you, honestly. I know how much you've been wanting to get the chance to do something like this and I think it's wonderful you finally have the opportunity. I just want to tell you that I love you a ton, and you definitely deserve this. You're one of the most dedicated people I know and you've earned this. These past years (oh so many) have been great and I know you'll have an awesome time overseas and I can't wait to hear all about your trip. Definitely post a ton...You know I'm curious like that! :D
Love always!!!

Congrats on being in the paper! I just found this link to your blog, and you remind me so much of...me! : )

I was also a YFU Japan scholarship winner (Okinawa Peace Scholar for the summer of '06) and I also made a blog of the experience on blogger. I don't know if you've seen it or not, since it was on the Alumni corner of the YFU homepage, but it's http://ajourneyofdiscovery.blogspot.com

Have a WONDERFUL time in Japan, I know you'll love it and remember to keep up with your blog! It's a wonderful way to look back on your exchange when it's all over...

Best of Luck!
Kristi

Someone once said...."Children do great...despite their parents". Well, in your case, you have wonderful parents who are great role models (but thank g-d you have your mom's brains). Congratulations on doing so well in school and good luck on your travels to Japan. And as they say in Japanese: "Ganbate kudasai" and よい旅[ご旅行]を; 気をつけてね
